Contact lenses and make up

Following are some tips to help you wear your contacts and your cosmetics safely and comfortably together and take care of contact lenses-

Wear soft contact lenses with clean hands before applying makeup. Put on rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses with clean hands after applying makeup.

Avoid lash-extending mascara as they have fibres that cause irritation to the eyes. Avoid waterproof mascara, which cannot be easily removed with water, as it may stain soft contact lenses.

Remember to remove lenses before removing makeup. Use an oil-free moisturizer. Choose water-based, hypoallergenic liquid foundations. Don’t use hand creams or lotions before handling contacts as they leave a film on your lenses.

Do not let the hairspray go into the eyes when you have the contact lenses on. Blink your eyes often while under a hair drier to keep your eyes from getting too dry.

Keep false eyelash cement, nail polish and remover, perfume and cologne away from the lenses. They can damage the plastic.
