Disposable Lenses
Disposable lenses are a product category of soft lenses. These lenses have to worn only for a certain period of time and then discarded. Disposable lenses keep your eyes healthy and reduce the risk of infections and other problems that occur due to the overuse of contact lenses. Moreover, disposable contact lenses also do away with the daily cleaning routine, which is essential in all other forms of contact lenses. There are many varieties of disposable contact lenses.
Daily disposable contact lenses - Daily disposable contact lenses are meant to be worn in the daytime and then discarded every night before sleeping. Every morning you wear a new pair of lenses. This helps to not only keep your lenses contamination free but also protects your lenses from protein build-up. Your eyes feel fresh everyday and are free from the aggravation of the harmful effects of overused lenses. There is also hardly any cleaning required, as they are disposed off upon removal. These contacts are beneficial for those who suffer from allergies and infection due to over use.
Weekly disposable contact lenses - These lenses are to be worn for one to two weeks depending on the type of lens and the eye care professional’s prescription. After one-two weeks of usage they are discarded and replaced with fresh lenses. By replacing your lenses you are preventing the protein deposit build-up. This in turn prevents eye irritation and infection. Some of these lenses can also be worn overnight depending on the advice of your doctor.
Monthly disposable contact lenses: These lenses as the name suggests can be worn continuously for about 30 days. They are made from a material called super permeable silicone hydrogel and are designed to provide higher level of oxygen to the cornea. Many people who require surgery often opt to wear monthly disposable contact lenses as a means to correct their vision. The silicone present in the lenses prevents the deposit of other materials thus reducing eye infections.
